Cheshire based Engineering Company Astra Vehicle Technologies have recently completed Leicestershire Heavy Haulage New XF Fleet additions.
The brief was to design & install front and rear mounted heavy haul towing facilities on a DAF FTT XF105.510 incorporating:
– VRGDB260D heavy duty cross member and
– Standard 10 bolt fixings used front & rear to allow flexibility with coupling requirements
– Front & rear 2 line air and electrical connections
-Heavy duty 5th wheel (Jost)
– Custom designed heavy gauge striker plate protection.
All of which were designed, fabricated and installed by the Astra team at their factory site next to Shell’s, Stanlow refinery in Ellesmere Port. Astra have a lot of experience working with DAF UK’s Engineering department based a Thame in Oxfordshire to ensure all their conversions meet with DAF’s stringent guidelines resulting in the very top quality of job.
Based on the mighty DAF FTTXF 6×4 Tractor with 510 Hp these rigs are now in service dragging and pushing some of the heaviest loads the length breath of both the UK.
