Astra Vehicle Technologies have been commissioned to complete a number of wheel base alterations by F & G DAF. The Customer Argo (Penistone) Ltd wanted to be able to carry a rear mounted fork lift with a large curtain sided body for their distribution service.
Having an exceptionally good working relationship with both F & G and DAF UK, they had no hesitation in yet again working with the Specialist Vehicle Engineering Company based in Ellesmere Port. Chassis Extensions and Wheelbase Modifications are bread and butter work at Astra. They work stringently within DAF’s Guidelines to ensure that both top quality is met and IVA and Small Series Homologation and safety testing is not jeopardised.
The Vehicle already had a long Chassis. To complete the job Astra released both the Drive Axle and Tag. They inserted the extension pieces and filched and braced in line with the Manufacturers Guidelines. In addition to this to this Astra were required to extend and balance the Prop Shaft and update the Manufacturers Stability Program.
Another chassis conversion completed by Astra Vehicle Technologies. Already a long chassis, we released the rear drive and tag axles, moved them rearward by 750mm, refitted the axles and replaced the prop shaft. This will allow the finished vehicle to carry a rear mounted fork lift truck without overload on the rear overhang.
